Alright, so we’re all a little guilty of giving our face all the love and not leaving much for our neck and chest area… but as I’m sure we have all heard before “your skincare stops at your nipples” and we can assure you your chest will thank you for it!
There are many reasons as to why we start seeing those pesky chest wrinkles pop up – a couple of the main reasons that can help be prevented are repeated UV exposure and side-sleeping. (we know this isn’t what you side sleepers want to hear… we’re sorry! But keep reading for a hot little tip)
Due to the skin being so fine and delicate in our décolletage area, this is one of the most difficult parts of our body to treat, and we often neglect our chest area until the decolletage wrinkles and fine lines start creeping up in our late 30’s or early 40’s and for some they can even show up as early as your 20’s.
But not all hope is lost! Décolletage skin care is super effective if the proper amount of time and care is dedicated to it. So, here’s the good news… you can totally have a radiant, hydrated and smooth décolletage into your 40s and 50s!
We’ve tried, tested and researched a range of treatments that are available to treat those fine lines and wrinkles that form on our chest area, from affordable at-home treatments such as 100% Medical Grade Silicone patches to high-tech laser resurfacing – here’s a shortlist of some of our favourites…
7 Treatments to reduce fine lines and wrinkles on the chest
#1 Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Lasers
It sounds scary we know, but CO2 lasers are great to resurface and remove wrinkles from the chest as well as scarring and age spots. These treatments can be quite costly, especially with repeated sessions, but the results can last for several years with proper care.
#2 Chemical Peels
Chemical exfoliants are rising in popularity in the everyday woman’s skincare routine, whether from home or in clinic - and for good reason! Our Neck & Decolletage Polishing Peel Pads are a gentle formulation of acids like glycolic, lactic, salicylic or trichoroacetic acid help remove dead skin cells revealing thoroughly smooth skin. Peel Pads are a home-based treatment that is both convenient and affordable. The frequency of use depends on your skin type, we typically recommend those with dry skin use chemical exfoliants only 1-2 times per week, while people with more oily skin can use them up to 5 times a week.
#3 Dermal Fillers
Soft Dermal Fillers can be applied to treat fine lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. The fillers work to create a soft and natural enhancement of the skin and make it appear more youthful, with results lasting up to 6 months.
#4 Micro Fat Grafting
Micro Fat Grafting is comparatively a riskier procedure with a longer recovery process. Fat is transferred to the chest to plump out contours, often used to treat scarring and premature aging. Micro Fat Grafting does not address age related sun damage such as dark spots or uneven skin texture in the way that chemical peels and laser can.
#5 Anti-Aging Cream
Who doesn’t love the feeling of a smooth chest after freshly applying a cream? With so many anti-aging creams on the market, it’s hard to know which ones truly correct fine lines on the chest. Look for high grade anti-wrinkle creams, moisturisers and serums containing medical ingredients such as those in the Vitamin A family, which are more aggressive and give the best results for an aging décolletage.
Commonly used for the face, Micro-Needling is also a solution to restore damaged skin on the décolletage. This treatment works to trigger fibroblast cell growth and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. You will typically see results after 3 months as new collagen builds smooth skin on the chest.
We may be a little bias, but Silicone Wrinkle Patches are one of the most affordable and successful treatments on the market (side-sleepers are you still reading?). Our decollete silicone pads are made from 100% Medical Grade Silicone and are non-invasive, easy to use and delivers better results with continued use. The anti wrinkle chest pad comfortably hugs the skin and prevents the chest from creasing further. The Medical Grade Silicone stimulates blood flow, boosts collagen production and draws up moisture to the skin’s surface to plump and smooth existing wrinkles.
For an intensive and restoring décolletage treatment, use our Chest Wrinkle Patch in conjunction with our glycolic acid peel pad for the Décolletage, brightening Chest Sheet Mask and antioxidant anti aging serum.
Prevention is always the best option, a good skincare routine and SPF daily will help delay those chest wrinkles! And remember… don’t neglect your chest area, skincare shouldn’t stop at your face!
